US Military Struck a 'Large Facility' in Venezuela, Trump Asserted Lacking Providing Details.

Former President Donald Trump has claimed that US forces struck a "major plant" in Venezuela in recent days. Yet, the former president did not specify the exact nature or site of the strike, and there has been no further comment from his team.

Unspecific Comments Made In a Talk Interview

"We just knocked out – I don't know if you saw – they have a large facility, where the ships come from. The other night, we destroyed it. So we hit them decisively," Trump allegedly told Republican donor and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Possible Implications of a Confirmed Strike

Should a US military action is verified, it would constitute the initial land strike since the US Department of Defense initiated a expansion of US military presence in the Caribbean region to interdict drug traffickers that the Trump administration claims operate under the authority of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

This original purpose of the force deployment has since morphed into a blockade aimed at stopping the country's oil exports.

Social Media Video and Administration Claims

Trump has for some time stated that American military units are poised to expand the military campaign by attacking objectives within Venezuela, a tactic that would in theory require legislative approval.

Online video circulated on social media on 24 December seemed to depict an detonation reportedly from an industrial zone in Zulia state. However, the footage or the site in question has not been corroborated.

An administration official allegedly told a news network that the president was referring to a narco-trafficking site in his remarks.

Response and Ongoing Military Posture

The Caracas administration has not commented on the event the former president described. Furthermore, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela about it.

The presence of American forces in the area – a position certain officials have termed a sea blockade – constitutes the largest naval operation of his time in office.

Officials have avoided from describing the operation as a blockade, but have confirmed that around 15,000 service members are deployed across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to implement existing economic sanctions.
