Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface since March of that year.

The win also means he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

His defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had caused some to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first tour championship, took control to create a third set.

Moutet saved four initial break points in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
