Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his debts and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Audiences can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
